Pedro Memelsdorff, Mala Punica, un retour vivement souhaité après la découverte fascinante – en 2007 – de cet ensemble brillant et audacieux, hors des sentiers battus… Écoutons, d’une oreille attentive, curieuse et sensible, ces pages liturgiques du célèbre Codex Faenza 117. Nous y trouverons – fruit de poésie, d’audace, d’érudition – l’écho vibrant et clair de l’intemporelle Beauté.

Nach der faszinierenden Entdeckung beim Festival 2007 nun eine ungeduldig erwartete Wiederbegegnung mit diesem Topensemble, das sich außerhalb ausgetretener musikalischer Pfade bewegt. Die der Liturgie gewidmeten Seiten einer berühmten Handschrift (Codex Faenza, 1410 - 1420) werden dem aufmerksamen und wissensdurstigen Zuhörer näher gebracht. Hier begegnet ihm das kraftvoll - klare Echo des zeitlos Schönen, als Ergebnis von Poesie und Wagemut gepaart mit kenntnisreichem Sachverstand.

Pedro Memelsdorff and the bold and brilliant Mala Punica make a welcome return to the festival after the delightful performance they gave here in 2007. On the programme this time: the liturgical music of Codex Faenza 117, one of the most famous manuscripts of the early fifteenth century. The programme includes amongst others sections of an extraordinary Marian Vespers – the earliest polyphonic Vespers to have come down to us – and a piece totally unknown until now, the Kyrie Orbis factor. The result is uplifting, poetic and timeless. Beauty!
